Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
In our ongoing need to continue to take asymptomatic tests, we’re bringing these mobile testing units to an area near you.
You may already be aware that there are a few different ways you can access your twice-weekly asymptomatic tests. However, we know it can be difficult for some people to access these options for a number of reasons.
That’s why we’re setting up a one-day mobile collection point in each the following areas: Scisset, Gomersal, Salendine Nook, Dewsbury, and Roberttown, between the dates 01/06/2021 and 04/06/2021.
Anyone over 18 can collect two packs of home testing kits (containing seven tests each) – the times, dates and locations are in the below table.
You don’t need to book, just turn up and please wear a face covering and social distance from those outside your household or bubble.
The tests come with instructions on how to use the tests and how frequently you should take them. We will have staff on hand to show you how to use the tests should you need help.

In addition to this we have launched our enhanced testing offer which means that everyone in Kirklees can access a PCR test.
Following the Government’s announcement last week that Kirklees will start enhanced testing, we’ve quickly put together our plan which is initially focussing more resources in four areas with highest infections rates.
This will see asymptomatic and symptomatic people in Kirklees taking PCR tests which gives us more information on the types of variant spreading so we can isolate them as much as possible. Read more about our surge and increased testing programme – and how to play your part.
Three new mobile testing units have also been set-up to offer people in Savile Town, Thornhill Lees, Honley and Batley asymptomatic PCR tests between 10am-4pm.
Anyone who lives or works in Kirklees can also get an asymptomatic PCR test at the below testing sites between 8am-8pm and help us detect potential cases of the new variant and prevent further spread:
We really urge everyone to continue to get tests wherever possible to keep your community safe and help prevent the spread of infection.
Taking a test helps reduce the spread of the virus in your community.

Have you downloaded and gained access to our school app yet? The app provides links to our website, latest news and personal messages about your child. Please could we ask all parents of children in school to do this as soon as possible.
In order to make the most out of the school app, you will firstly need to be given access by the school. Please contact the school office by email and we will send an invite via a text message to start the authentication process.

Half Term Creative Workshops - WOVEN (woveninkirklees.co.uk)
A number of children and parents from school have recently reported inappropriate conversations they have witnessed on social media between children who attend Newsome Juniors. Some parents are unaware of these interactions until we make contact. This concerns us as without careful monitoring of devices children could easily be viewing offensive materials or even be exposed to online grooming.
We urge all parents to stick with the social media age restrictions, no matter how much children plead to be like their friends by downloading similar apps.
Some social media providers allow users to delete comments which makes it very difficult to monitor interactions. Some even track the location of the user’s phone and make this visible to others through a map. The settings can easily be changed by children.
In school we promote responsibility, respect and kindness. We hope parents will help us to encourage this with children both in school and online.
