The children in 4BW will be tested each Thursday. They have been set these spellings before so please don't worry if you recognise them, we have set them again so we can assess the children and ensure that they know all of the Y4 statutory spellings. Many thanks, the Year 4 team.
Calling all 4BW students! Just so you know, we are going to be having some weekly spelling tests of previous spellings that we have already learnt. This is so I can make sure that you know how to spell the words from the different Units in Year 4.
I am going to choose ten from the list below and test you on Thursday 11th March.
Here are the first set of spellings:
Today in Design and Technology we have been looking at suitable types of packaging. Firstly, we ranked them out of ten for protectiveness, presentation, preservation and how well it contained the product. Then the children opened up the packaging and labelled each part of the net: face, glued tab and interlocking tab. We are working towards designing our own packaging!
In Science we have been studying States of Matter, check out this brilliant piece of work completed by one of our pupils!
As our current Topic is the Romans, we re-created a Roman battle! We hope you enjoy the pictures.
Check out our Boudicca Wanted posters from yesterday's Topic lesson!
Today in PSHE the children have been creating their own Super Hero identity and masks to match their heroes costume! We had such a great time.
Today the children at home and in school have been 'Dictionary Diving' in their Literacy lessons! They are currently completing a unit called Goblinology and they absolutely love it! Well done Year 4 and keep up the good work!
Today the children in school have been taking part in an Art project called 'Moulding Memories'. They wrote poems, drew comic strips and painted rainbows then...ripped them up! They mixed the paper with PVA glue and water to form a pulp. Then, they filled brick moulds. Below are some examples of their work and the brick making. When the bricks are set I will post a photo of the final products! Well done 4BW.
Hello 4BW! Below I have got some images to share with you from our home learners. Haris submitted some brilliant dividing work for Maths. I really like how he has shown his working out through base 10. Summer built a giant Hobbit House! It is truly fantastic, as well as her Super Hero Identity work for PSHCE, well done Summer. Tia completed her Art work for perspective drawing, she chose to draw her back garden. Well done guys!
Apologies for any confusion but due to limited office staff, collection hours for home learning packs are 8:00am till 10:00am Monday to Friday. From Monday 25th January we hope to move solely to online learning via Google Classrooms in Year 4. Completing work via Google Classrooms will allow teachers to give regular feedback and monitor children's work. However, if you are struggling technology wise please get in touch via the class email addresses and we can assist you. We will try our best to supply laptops to those who need one. Where possible, paper packs will no longer be routinely available to children who can access online learning from Monday 25th January.
All the best,
Hello 4BW! I just want you know how much Miss Armitage and Miss Mohiuddin miss you! We can't wait to see you in the week's to come. Please can all parents/guardians of key worker children insure that they bring wellies to school as we are planning on using the Wild Area often. Furthermore, please can all children who are accessing online learning make sure they login to Google Classroom today following the login email and password in their NJS School Planner- If you have any problems please email the office and I will send you your child's details. It is important that children who are using an electronical device to access their work login and accept Google Classrooms today. Work will be added including the date it was set and a due date.

We have been very busy over the past two days decorating our Christmas shakers and filling them with dried macaroni! The children managed to make high and low pitch sounds by figuring out that the larger pieces of pasta made a low-pitch sound and the smaller pieces made a high-pitch sound when shaken.
We are getting into the Christmas spirit in 4BW! Here is a nativity scene that one of our class members created.
(I wonder if anyone else would like to put their creative hat on and have a go during the holidays)
During our maths lessons we have been studying area and perimeter. It would be wonderful if the children could measure some items at home e.g. Length of the letter box or perhaps some of their own things like toys or game consoles!
Please could you encourage your child to practise all of the Year 4 spellings on our class page so far over the Christmas holidays. This will help to prepare them for a spelling test in January.
