New Staggered Start and Finish Times 28th September 2020

Another week in school with our lovely Y6 and Key Worker children  It is definitely a lot colder!

We hope all our children are excited about who their next teacher will be in September - we sent out details on Friday last week. laugh

Keep working hard whether you are in school or at home! I hope you have a lovely week.

This is Y6`s second week back in school and they have really settled in. The Key workers are also adapting to their new groups and have had lots of fun in the forest.

We hope that we will be able to welcome back all year groups for a morning or afternoon before we finish for the summer holidays when they can meet their new this space!

We have really enjoyed our first week back with the children and hope they have too. Let`s do it all over again next week!

We all had a lovely day yesterday and it was great to see some of our children back again. I saw some great art work in Mrs. Mitchell`s class!

There were a few tired faces today but I am sure we will get back into a routine soon. If you are not back in school, don`t forget to keep up to date with your home learning and we hope to see you soon.

We are really excited to be welcoming back our Y6 children and more children into our key worker groups today. We can`t believe how tall they are! We hope that they have a fantastic day smiley

We are incredibly grateful to the Newsome Coffee and Chat group who have very kindly donated £100.00 towards equipment for the Woodland Area! The School Council will be meeting shortly to discuss how the children would like to use the money. What lovely news. smiley

Lots of children from our Y5 classes took part in "The Big Sing" this week at Newsome High School and did an amazing job with their brass instruments. We are all really proud of you! smiley

Thank you to everyone for all your fantastic efforts on World Book Day - everyone looked fabulous!

Don`t forget to take part in our Readathon - how many books can you read?

Congratulations to the children that attended the Kirklees World Book Day Quiz - you all did so well and were excellent representatives of our school smiley

What a fabulous morning of reading!

It was lovely to see so many adults in school today to find out about how we deliver Guided Reading.

We also introduced our Readathon Challenge so, look out for sponsor forms going home tonight.

Don`t forget that it`s World Book Day on Thursday!

Reading Workshop

Reflective Learners

I would like to welcome everyone back after the half term on a very wet Monday morning!

It is going to be a busy half term including events such as World Book Day, our reading workshop and Parents` Evening.

It has been great to see the children settle back into their classes and there is lots of learning going on already. We will be practising our Team Worker, Self-Manager and Reflective Learner skills throughout this half term.

I would like to wish everyone a lovely half term holiday. Thank you to staff, children and governors for all of their hard work.

Next half term, the children will be learning about the skills they need to be "A Reflective Learner." I am looking forward to talking to them about their learning, targets and achievements.

A massive thank you to all of our volunteers who worked over the weekend in our woodland to prepare it for lots of Forest Fun activities to take place. We really appreciate all of your efforts.A special thank you goes to Mrs. Sawyer for organising the event and to Cliffe House for their advice and support.

I can`t wait to see the woodlands being used more often as an exciting learning space!

It has been another busy week with lots of learning going on!

Thank you to our Reading Friends who come in every Wednesday to support our Y3 children. We really appreciate your help and support smiley

Maths Morning

It was fantastic to see so many parents at our Maths Morning today!

We hope you enjoyed the session and found it useful to support your children at home.

Watch out for our Reading morning which will be advertised soon!

I really enjoyed visiting maths lessons across the school today. Well done everyone for all of your super work. I saw some great self-managers. yes

It was also lovely to give out 5 Headteacher Awards to children in 3EM this afternoon for their fantastic observational painting work.

We are looking forward to lots of Maths Fun on Wednesday 15th January 2020 and hope that parents will be able to join us. We have lots of exciting activities to show you so that you can learn all about our maths curriculum.

It was lovely to meet up with children from each class yesterday to discuss the qualities of a "Self Manager." The children were enthusiastic about practising and developing their skills over the half term, to support them to be Effective Learners. I will meet with them weekly to track their progress and know I will be amazed by the end of the half term by how much they have improved! Good luck everyone smiley

We would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year and welcome them back to school for a new term. We hope everyone enjoyed the Christmas break.

This afternoon, the children have been involved in creative activities linked to our dreams and aspirations for the future. Have a look on the class pages to find out more and chat to your child about their hopes for the future.
