On Mondays we have our spelling test and are introduced to our spellings for the following week.

We visit the woodland area on Mondays so it's always best to have some sensible shoes or wellies in school please.

Outdoor PE is on Tuesday afternoon and indoor PE is on Thursday afternoon. Please come to school wearing PE kit that day.

Look at our Curriculum Newsletter to find out more about the topics that we are learning about in our class this term. There's more information on our Blog too.

REMEMBER!! Fridays are our Brass lessons with Mr Brown. If you take your instrument home to practice on,  remember to bring it into school on Friday ready for your lesson!

Our class email is Class5SE@newsomejuniors.co.uk

School Councillors who were chosen last year will continue in role until later this year.

Our school councillors are: Faye and Daisie

Spellings

Now that we have covered all the Year 5 spelling rules in our scheme of work, we will be learning some 'special focus' words. There will be a different 'focus' each week. New spellings are introduced on a Monday, reviewed in school each day and then tested the following Monday. Children will have copies of their current spellings in their home-school diaries but I've added them here too.

These are the spellings for the week commencing 16.5.22 and the test will be on 23.5.22:

immediate

immediately

suggest

suggestion

marvellous

necessary

unnecessary

programme

recommend

recommendation

These words will be handed out on the 23.5.22 but not tested until 6.6.22 (due to the half-term break).

rhyme

rhythm

symbol

system

forty

curiosity

yacht

hymn

myth

why

These words will be handed out on the 6.6.22 and tested on the 13.6.22:

develop

development

determined

familiar

unfamiliar

definite

indefinite

awkward

persuade

persuasion

We have studied all these Year 5/6 spellings over the course of the year so far however, it would be great if you can revise them.
