On Mondays we have our spelling test and are introduced to our spellings for the following week.

We visit the woodland area on Mondays so it's always best to have some sensible shoes or wellies in school please.

PE is Monday and Wednesday afternoons, so please come to school wearing PE kit that day. This term we are studying hockey and gymnastics.

Look at our Curriculum Newsletter to find out more about the topics that we are learning about in our class this term. There's more information on our Blog too.

REMEMBER!! Fridays are our Brass lessons with Mr Brown. If you take your instrument home to practice on,  remember to bring it into school on Friday ready for your lesson!

Our class email is Class5SE@newsomejuniors.co.uk

School Councillors who were chosen last year will continue in role until later this year.

Our school councillors are: Faye and Daisie

Spellings

Each fortnight we will learn a spelling rule or pattern. Children will learn 6 words that follow this 'rule'. In addition, they will also learn 4 spellings from the Year 5/6 Statutory word list. New spellings are introduced on a Monday, reviewed in school each day and then tested the following Monday. Children will have copies of their current spellings in their home-school diaries but I've added them here too.

Here are the next set of spelling words to learn.

In March, on World Book Day, Year 5 will be entering a team for the Books Plus Reading Challenge in the Town Hall. In order to take part, children will need to be knowledgeable about the majority of books from the titles provided. I wonder how many of these books you will be able to read before March.
